Although the dental industry is flourishing, the number of orthodontists is very rare. Because in fact, the medical training organizations in the country do not have a long-term specialized training system on orthodontics.

An orthodontist is an expert in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental diseases. All orthodontists are dentists, but only 3-6% of dentists in the US and Europe are certified orthodontic. In Asia and Vietnam, this number is even less.

In fact, the general dentists are the ones who take care of the overall health of the teeth and the common oral problems such as sore teeth, cavities, porcelain crowns, tooth cleaning ... They can treat braces in simple cases. However, for more complex cases and to achieve better, more stable results, the intervention of an orthodontist with an orthodontic license and degree is required.

The majority of people with dental problems in Asia think that orthodontic or braces just going to the regular dental office is enough. Therefore, many people spend a large amount of money on braces, but the old disease still recurs and often suffer from pain and aches.

In Vietnam, there are currently more than 10,000 dentists, but the number of orthodontists with international certificates in orthodontics is relatively low. Because in fact, the medical training organizations in the country do not have a formal specialized training system in orthodontics. Although the dental industry is flourishing, the number of doctors with intensive orthodontic training is rare. Therefore, doctors who want to be sure of their expertise to perform orthodontic cases for patients often look to professional training organizations and receive international standard orthodontic certificates.

Currently in the world, there are two most prestigious orthodontic associations that are WFO (World Federation of Orthodontists - International Association of Orthodontists) and AAO (American Association of Orthodontists - American Association of Orthodontists). ).

The International Association of Orthodontists (WFO) is a major organization in the orthodontic sector. This organization was established at the 4th International Orthodontic Congress (IOC) International Conference in San Francisco by 69 affiliated organizations on May 15, 1995, currently has more than 8,000 WFO graduate students and 109 affiliated organizations.

The AAO American Orthodontist Association is the world's oldest and largest specialist orthodontic organization. Founded in 1900, the organization represents more than 18,000 orthodontic members across the United States, Canada, and abroad. A doctor after graduating from Dental Medicine must study 2 - 3 years in orthodontic residency to be eligible to join the American Orthodontic Association AAO.

For the orthodontic specialization, the certificate from the American Association of Orthodontists AAO reflects the expertise of orthodontists. Because this is an international and prestigious organization, including experts who cooperate with the purpose of developing and perfecting orthodontic specialties.

If the orthodontist performs the right technique and surgery allowed, the result after the braces is finished will be stable for life. In contrast, general dentists do not have experience, do not have in-depth knowledge of orthodontics, can cause patients with protruding teeth, myelitis, loose teeth, long treatment time. Therefore, choosing a well-trained orthodontist with a prestigious certificate in intensive orthodontics is important for you to have a beautiful teeth after orthodontic treatment.
